Do I have "Sucker" written on my face?

It is inevitable. I always end up in bookstores or Costco when there is a book signing. The author looks at me all expectantly, like my purchase will insure the success of a half-rate paperback.

Well, it happened to me again today. I innocently went into Costco for a jar of artichoke hearts and $148 later, I have a signed copy of a book called Lightland. I hope my contribution makes a difference. Anywho, it should be an awesome read, as he assured me it would be. He said it was a fascinating premise for a novel. but of course he would say that, right?

So, anyone want to borrow it when I'm done?
